Abstract In this paper we study the effect of structural perturbations caused by not accounted small time constants and its influence on the stability and other properties of closed control systems. It is considered that structural perturbations appeared in plant itself and cause order of plant’s characteristic polynomial to increase. In the context of the paper there is considered behavior of the roots of the systems’ characteristic polynomials of various orders and with different distributions of the desired poles in the complex plane depending on the value of small time constants. The distributions of the following types are treated: multiple roots, minimal regulation, and non-multiple roots. To research how structural perturbations influence depends on desired stability degree there are investigated systems with different settling time. Here are shown examples of dynamical systems with controller synthesized from specified quality indicators using the principle of output control and influence. The results are presented by graphs of structurally perturbed closed-loop system’s pole variation.
