Abstract The results of theoretical analysis and mathematical modeling of phenomena of nonlinear compression (compression) and spreading (decompression) of pulsed acoustic signals in the acoustic beam in a quadratically nonlinear medium without physical dispersion. Confirmed the conclusion of [1,2] about a possibility of observing the effects of compression and decompression of pulses in quadratically nonlinear media. Shown that the effects of compression (decompression) may be due to the nonlinear interaction of a pulsed signal with a powerful low-frequency quasimonochromatic wave. The basic pattern of effects of compression and spreading of the pulse in the sound beam.
