Abstract The influence of electrophysical and technological properties of semiconductor materials on solar cells are investigated. The optimal values of working layers’ thickness of semiconductor solar cells on the basis of poly-Si/ZnO heterostructure were calculated. The investigated solar cell’s current-voltage characteristics were simulated, thus the optimal thicknesses of layers which showed the maximum values of short-circuit current and consequently, solar cell’s efficiency, were determined.
