Abstract Researches of nanocomposite SiO2CuOx materials, synthesized by sol-gel method were carried out. To investigate the phase composition and oxidation states of the copper the method photoelectron spectroscopy has been applied. In the films, presence of CuO and Cu2O phases with the size of crystallite phase about 30-40 nm was found. Surface morphology and the films structure depending on the copper concentration were investigated by means of atom-force and electron microscopy. It was shown that the films at concentration of copper 3, 5, 7 wt. % have porous structure. The electrophysical properties defining their semi-conductor nature were studied. Activation energy and band gap were calculated.
