Abstract In this work two approaches in simulation fluid dynamics of basins are considered and applied in practice. One of them is based on numerical solution of the Navier – Stokes equations by Pressure-Correction method. Other approach based on solution of the Lattice Boltzmann equation. The comparative analysis of these two approaches on a basin example «Etang de Berre» is performed.
