Abstract The article is devoted to identifying the essential characteristics of information-psychological security. Relationship between information-psychological security and other components of the phenomenon of security is analyzed. The role of information-psychological security in the two systems of higher hierarchical level - human security and state information security is considered. It is shown that functionally information-psychological security directed to: realization of human rights and freedoms, individuals needs, interests and aspirations; improvement the quality of life, including a subjective sense of safety; providing the possibility of personal development and self-realization. The necessary conditions for information-psychological security are: protection of the individual (the subject, the psyche, the consciousness) from the negative information-psychological effects; development of internal resources of sustainability under adverse impacts and self-development resources; creating a high-quality information environment to meet the human information needs and for the formation of spiritual and moral values. It is concluded that the information-psychological security can be considered as a prevailing component of human security as well as state information security.
