Abstract In the work we can find the possibility of fallen leaves’ utilization in order to receive sorbents for natural and waste water purification from oil products. The temperature of sorbent synthesis was matched by experiments; the temperature was 500 °C. We have studied the elemental composition both of feedstock (fallen leaves) and of the synthesized sorbent by the method of energy dispersive fluorescent analysis. The elemental composition of these materials includes Ca, Fe, Zn, Mn, K, Cu, Ti, As (with the concentration decrease). We have studied the sorption characteristics of derived materials and the influence of heat treatment temperature to the characteristics of derived materials. The sorbent’s adsorption activity synthesized at a temperature of 500 °C is 48,26 % and 124,88 mg/g to iodine- and orange methyl, respectively. The degree of extraction from oil products is 89–95 %. The impregnation of sorbent with potassium hydroxide was made for extending the specific surface area. We have found out that CОN promotes the develop- ment of porous surface system and increase the specific surface area by 46 times.
