Abstract This article analyses characteristic features of a system of political representation in eighteenth-century Great Britain. Author considers an evolution of a system of political representation in this period as an important stage in the process of transition from the personal monarchy to the parliamentary one. Among the important elements of this evolution author gives a consideration of redistribution  of  prerogative  powers,  transformation of parliamentary  factions and  the  Cabinet. Paper draws our attention to the connection between political history of eighteen-century Great Britain and creation of conditions for constitutional mechanisms of modern political participation. An overview of the historiography on this subject is also focused on.
