Abstract A quasistatic thermoelsticity problem solution for an instant ring-shaped crack propagation in a solid cylinder under thermoelstic stresses arising in the one at it’s cooling is considered. Jump-like penny-shaped crack increasing is caused by an instant load relaxation at the banks of the increased crack which causes dynamic effects. Dynamic effects’ evaluation is given, it is shown that they are small and therefore a quasistatic statement of the problem is competent.
