Abstract The principle of operation of a quantum key distribution system by the example of Id 3000 Clavis is investigated in this work. The process of signal propagation is described. Input and output signal drawings of main functional parts are given. Function of detector operating in current mode and its part in subsystem of synchronization and attack detection are investigated.
