Abstract The characteristics of the slotted impedance load is explored. This design for constructive realization of the distribution of equivalent surface impedance is designed, providing objects of a given scattering properties. A mathematical model of the slotted impedance load based on the hole in the screen is considered in order to determine the equivalent surface impedance. The solution is obtained by reducing the problem to an integral equation (H-polarization) and integro-differential equation (E-polarization) calculated by the Krylov-Bogolyubov method. Numerical results are obtained as an equivalent surface impedance dependency on the strip conductor size in the aperture and the incidence angle of the electromagnetic wave. With this design it is possible to implement complex values in the case of H-polarization and the polarization at E. This construction realize the complex values for the H-polarization and the polarization E. Reactive component of the equivalent surface impedance on the H-polarization is capacitive, and the E-polarization - inductive. The value of the equivalent surface impedance can be adjusted by changing the width of the strip conductor. Impedance on the angle of incidence of the electromagnetic wave is weakly dependent only at small values of the slot width.
