Abstract A common tendency of communications systems network information infrastructure forming is pointed out. The tendency lies in seeking ways to build the unified information-communication field based on the principals of network-centric approach and service-oriented architecture. Such an approach may an assure the adaptable services in the field and the information readily available for users. The tendency lies in seeking ways to build the unified information-communication field based on the principals of network-centric approach and service-oriented architecture. Such an approach may an assure the adaptable services in the field and the information readily available for users. It is noted that new tends form demands for new approaches and new research developments. These trends are taken into account in research planning by leading world companies. At the present time an expending area of scientific explorations lays in the field of information and communication technologies, nanotechnologies and nanomaterials, cognitive technologies, and intellectual analyses sestems. The analyses of priority investigations in the field of network technologies are carried out by the example of leading foreign companies. A complex character of investigations conducted is stressed. The main research programs conducted by DARPA and other research centers and companies in USA and Europe are discussed. Special attention is paid to updating DARPA developments. It is noted that research developments in the field of network technologies have the most financial provision. In turn network technologies when operation a lot of subjects and systems initiate a wide range of investigations in various science fields – mathematics, physics, cybernetics and etc. The main features of network communications forming the global information field in various countries are determined by the information society structure and finance and technical potentialities of the country. As a whole the analyses of the main line of political communications systems and network-centric control principals show that the most intensive explorations in the field of network-centric model of communications architecture are proceeding in the USA. The basic technological trends and the most important lines of investigations in the field of network-centric communications are pointed out.
