Abstract The problem is a complex estimation of the risk of emergencies caused by extreme weather events, is highly relevant for the North Caucasus. This work is devoted to development of methods of forecasting of especially dangerous natural phenomena on the basis of an integrated satellite and registrar of thunderstorms information as well as the development of methods of short-term forecasting of dangerous and fast processes in the atmosphere. For this purpose, there is provided a hardware-software complex for receiving, processing and docking radar (Doppler) the registrar of thunderstorms and satellite information on weather phenomena. The scope of use of the complex is the study of electrical and microphysical processes in the atmosphere, monitoring and warning of severe weather (hail, thunder, rain, squall, tornado), short-term weather forecast for the south of Russia, the active influence on cloud processes to protect against hail and artificial precipitation enhancement. It is shown that the most intense generation of electric charges in the cloud formation occurs when the particles therein hail. Proof of this is the increase in the number of different types of lightning during the display of hail in the cloud using weather radar MRL-5. On the base of state-of-the-art instruments and developed software-technical system it is first time received that entering of artificial ice-forming particles into the thunderstorm according to Russian hail suppression technology promotes to intensification of lightning activity during short period after seeding and transforms volumetric distribution of lightning flashes.
