Abstract To improve the accuracy and reliability of vibroacceleration parameters measurement there was made the research and development of two-parameter piezoelectric sensor for the systems of vibration control and diagnostics of operating industrial equipment. The sensor is designed for the simultaneous measurement of vibroacceleration of progressive and torsional vibrations of the elements and components of the controlled object. Multifunctional mechanical-electrical sensor’s converter is installed on the basis of its case. It comprises inertial and piezoelectric elements. The work of the sensor is based on occur of the tension-compression strains in piezoelement and shear from the influence of translational and angular accelerations. Piezoelement has two layers of longitudinal and tangential polarization to segregate the electrical signals caused by different types of deformation. The distribution pattern of mechanical stresses, electric fields, and dependence of main technical characteristics of the sensor are researched on the mathematical model of finite element method. The results are used in the design and optimization of construction. The main technical characteristics of sensor: progressive acceleration sensitivity – 5 pC·m–1·s2; angular acceleration sensitivity – 0,135 pC·rad–1·s2; longitudinal resonance frequency – 21 kHz; torsional resonance frequency – 14 kHz; working frequency range when measuring progressive acceleration – from 1 to 6000 Hz; working frequency range when measuring angular acceleration – from 1 to 4000 Hz; workin temperature range – from minus 60 to plus 200 °С. The second option of sensor includes built-in amplifier. The sensor is designed to operate in industrial conditions at the refinery and power-generating equipment, railway transport and other technical areas. Using of one two- parameter sensor instead of two one- parameter sensors enables measurements of progressive and angular accelerations in single point of the controlled object.
