Abstract This paper presents an analytical method of estimation of the limiting resolution of digital electro-optical systems of remote sensing of the visible and infrared ranges, based on the theory of linear electro-optical systems. A mathematical apparatus for the implementation of digital electro-optical systems for remote sensing of the visible and infrared range capabilities estimation by limiting their maximum resolution. The dependencies of limiting capabilities of such systems on the characteristics of the hardware were obtained and a detailed analysis was performed. The main approaches to the synthesis parameters of digital electro-optical systems were defined.
