Abstract The digital filter with concrete transfer function can be realized according to various block diagrams. The paper considers the problem of correct comparison of different digital filters’ structures as to their complexity. There is introduced a technique allowing to compare structures until their functional and principal circuitry development. For correct comparison of these structures, it is offered to introduce concept «equivalent canonical structure». The introduced technique of structure comparison will be used in development of structural synthesis algorithm for digital filters with limited accuracy of coefficients reproduction.
