Abstract The wide-spread application of low-molecular polyethylene oxide as a stabilizer in aerosols during molding (ceramics, powder metallurgy), as an adhesive to stabilize the shape of the articles manufactured by molding from certain polymers (polyuretanes etc.) determines the need in the search of efficient inhibitors of thermooxidative destruction of polyethylene oxide, soluble both in aqueous and organic media. In this study, we applied synchronous thermal analysis to discover the influence of the inhibitors of a natural origin (methionine, taurine, ascorbic acid, dihydroquercetin, vitamin E) on the thermooxidative destruction of polyethylene oxide. We have shown that their antioxidant activity depends on their chemical structure, and, in a number of cases, we observed a strong synergetic effect during their combined application for the inhibition of the thermooxidative destruction of polyethylene oxide.
