Abstract The influence of hyperventilation on the ability to control center of pressure in the visual biofeedback stabilographic test was studied. Classic stabilometric parameters and the power spectrum indices were estimated on the force platform “Stabilan-01 SDB “Ritm” before, during and after the period of hyperventilation (n=39). Increase of all stabilometric parameters during hyperventilation reflected the decrease of postural stability and was related to the respiration movements and metabolic changes induced by hyperventilation. We also found the elevation of high frequency spectrum indices. Thus, voluntary increase of respiration amplitude and frequency is the reason of less effective visual biofeedback mechanism of posture tolerance in humans.
