|Abstract||In the article the organizational context of contemporary social work in the USA is examined. The types of social agencies and the basic professional roles of American social workers are the object of analysis. The examined criteria of the classification of the social agencies are as follows: the types of the population, the forms of social services, target problems, content of activity and methods of social work, and also the nature of financial sources. It is shown that the humanistic values are the basis of the standardization of the activity of specialists and their professional roles in social organizations of different types.|
