Abstract In small-sized digital frequency synthesizers constructed on the basis of a frequency stabilization phase contour (FSPC) with digital, frequency dividers the level of non-harmonic components largely depends on control voltage pulsation of the pulsephase discriminator (PPD). To reduce the influence of these pulses on the quality of a signal the inertial filters of the low frequencies (FLF) smoothing the pulses up to the necessary level are included into the contour FSPC. Introduction of inertial FLF in the contour (FSPC) results in the reduction of locking range, i.e. the area of frequencies, in which the lock is determined process(lock which probability is equal to unit). At the same time there is a frequency area enclosed between the limits of the locking range and the holding range, for which the contour of stabilization is statistically steady. It means, that for any frequency from this area after switching frequencies and after intensive short-term influences in the contour of stabilization with certain probability an equilibrium condition is estab- lished, hence, programmed signal is formed, or beating mode is established, when the synthesis of a quazimonochrome signal becomes impossible. The problem is to develop the strategy of transient control that ensures leading of the system in an equilibrium from the initial free conditions, the solution of non-linear differential equation of FSPC base system being available.
