Abstract In this paper, we suggest a new logic chart based approach to the problem of creating mechanisms and tools based on information technologies for support of managerial decision making in business. The purpose of the research is the development of approaches to building a logic chart for representing tasks in the information system (IS) intended for business management in the context of their development in the direction of intelligent and expert systems. We consider an extension of availability of user-defined IS functions through the implementation of a new approach to the construction of logical structures for solving problems in two directions: the transformation of forming accounting data of the enterprise in the direction of management reporting as well as modification of an expert module in a two-tier system. In the proposed scheme, the economic structure of the IS provides for the presentation of statements of administrative character, the transfer of the functions of data interpretation in IS, extending functionality of support services (interactive training module), introducing elements of intelligence and adding modified modules of expert systems to solve specific management tasks.
