Abstract The paper discusses the issues of thermal protection of vital components of fire equipment and personnel when exposed to heat flow under fire conditions with the formation of a passive thermal protection on the basis of design features exterior design elements of fire appliances and paint. Ability to organize passive thermal protection is also considered, taking into account the operational characteristics of the use of fire equipment. One of the objectives of this work was to identify optimal passive thermal protection that can withstand high temperatures and minimize the passage of heat flows. Were selected for study different materials and compositions thereof; bicomponent weatherproof paints, non-combustible mineral-based materials used in construction and space engineering and some types of fiberglass’s used in the automotive industry. To carry out the experimental work were chosen following numerical values heat flows: 15, 25, 40 kW/m2. For comparative evaluation of heat-shielding properties of materials used for protection against thermal radiation was used modernized experimental equipment and methods GOST.
